Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which will be provided during the booking confirmation or upon collection of the vehicle. This agreement outlines the terms, conditions, insurance provisions, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement prevails.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle in Southport, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ depending on the type of vehicle, with potential additional fees for those under 25. Renters are required to possess a valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address must be provided. Payment details and a security deposit are also necessary, along with any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Southport office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable at the time of vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure transactions facilitated by trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and you will be charged accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as when collected; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please contact us promptly if you foresee a delay. You will also be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, in addition to a handling fee.
Insurance and Liability Overview
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to help limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you have opted for additional coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is also not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should only be used as intended, adhering to all passenger and weight limits. Additionally, driving outside the designated geographical areas requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Constraints
To the fullest extent allowed under Southport law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount paid for the rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not affect liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraudulent activities.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately once posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
